sign writing FAQs

What preparation do I need to make for a timber shop fascia?

The more prep the better. New timber needs two primer coats, one oil based undercoat and one or two gloss top coats. Please follow the manufacterers coating systems for water based acrylic paint.

Your sign will only look as good as the amount of preparation put in. Please be aware you’ll be charged for all time and travel incurred if I arrive on site and the sign is badly painted.

I need a sign for my new shop, what details do you want?

A photo of the shop front. Height and width of the fascia, must be internal measurments to the frame. Artwork design and colour references. if you don’t have these I can advise on design and layout.

Ok that’s great, how can I book you in?

I will require a 50% deposit of the quoted cost with balance due on completion. I can usually start the work within three weeks, often sooner.

Can you sign write on any surface?

Just about, I’ve written large letters on rough brick work, Gilded letters on velvet and onto canvas shop awnings. Go on give me a challenge

How much will it costs?

This depends entirely on the job and not always on letter size or quantity, small letters can often take longer to write.
Gold and metal leaf letters gilded on glass or painted timber will cost more than painted enamel letters but think of the value it adds to your business.
